This Bike Tour Luang Prabang to Angkor Wat combines the cultural interests of the two countries, starting from the Laos World Heritage Site Luang Prbang to Cambodia World Heritage Site of Angkor Complex. This cycling tour take you through Laos from North to South via the capital Vientiane. Cycle follow the Mekong River to Cambodia. The cycling route we have taken are interesting with nice scenery of the 4 Thousand Islands. Crossing the border to Cambodia In Cambodia, cycle along the Mekong River to see the endangered Irrawady Dolphines and experience the cycling at the highland Mondulkiri to visit the minority hill tribe people before heading to Angkor following the Mekong River.
Day 1: Luang Prabang – Arrival
Welcome to Luang Prabang! Upon your arrival, you will be picked up by our local guide and driver, who will then transfer you to your comfortable hotel. The rest of the day is at yours own leisure to enjoy in this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your Bike Tour Luang Prabang to Angkor Wat begins in the evening with a welcome meeting and tour briefing.
Day 2: Luang Prabang City Tour
After breakfast, we will explore this wonderful town with your guide. Firstly, we will visit the local market, where you can see the locals getting their daily supplies. The tour will continue with visits to the National Museum (closed on Tuesday and Sunday afternoons), Wat Mai, and Wat Xieng Thong. Here, you will learn about Lao history and the kingdoms that ruled this place in former times. Our local guide will then accompany you for lunch at a local restaurant, where you can try Lao food.
After lunch we visit Wat Visoun which dates back to the 16th century before heading to the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Center, where you will gain a deeper understanding of the ethnic diversity in Laos today. We then ascend Phousi Mountain to marvel at the sunset over town before descending into the colorfully-lit tents of the Night Market to shop for handmade crafts. Overnight stay in Luang Prabang.
Day 3: Luang Prabang – Phoukoun
Today we depart from Luang Prabang to Kiew Ka Cham by cycling. We cycle through the mountain road, passing lush forests and many small H’Mong villages that sit dwarfed by the amazing landscape of limestone mountains that surround them. Then we will transfer 66km to Phoukoun. Overnight stay in Phoukoun.
Day 4: Phoukoun – Kasi
Your Today Bike Tour Luang Prabang to Angkor Wat is the hardest part, cycle with some uphill and downhill sections. You will be high in the mountains for half of the day following a bridge line up and down with peaks all around. We will stop for water after 24km of cycling at Hot Spring then cycle on the valley to Kasi for lunch. Arrive in Kasi in the afternoon, so you will be free to wander around the village.
Day 5: Kasi – Vang Vieng
After breakfast, we start cycling for 57km to Vang Vieng. We hope to arrive early afternoon so we can spend the rest of the day caving or tubing on the Nam Song River or just relaxing. The ride to Vang Vieng is relatively easy, traveling through lush green rice fields. Vang Vieng is surrounded by limestone peaks, caves and rivers, making it a popular destination for travelers.
Day 6: Vang Vieng – Nam Ngum Lake
We cycle from the hotel to the Nam Ngum Lake. The today ride is mainly downhill and we will pass through Phong Hong along the way. The lake is man-made and was formed by a dam. We will spend the night at Nam Ngum Lake.
Day 7: Nam Ngum Lake – Vientiane
After breakfast, we will start cycling to Vientiane. The road is mainly flat for this ride, and we should arrive in Vientiane late afternoon. If time permits, we can visit the National Museum and the former Royal Palace.
Day 8: Vientiane –Flight to Pakse
Today free at your own leisure until time to transfer you to the airport for your domestic flight to Pakse. Arrive in Pakse you will welcome by our driver who will then transfer you to your hotel. Relax before continuing your next cycling adventure.
Day 9: Pakse – Wat Phou – Champasak
Today we cycle along the Mekong river, follow the Mekong river and cross the ferry and continue cycling leaving the Mekong river on the backdrop. There, appear the Wat Phou temple on the foot of the Champasak hill. It is a 12th century temple built by a great Khmer King Jayavarman VII. Visit the temple 45 minutes to 1 hour. Afternoon, we cycle to Champasak.
Day 10: Champasak – Se Pian National Biodiversity Center
We fill in the water and be ready to get on the bike to cycle to Se Pian Biodiversity Conservation Center located near Cambodia border to Rattanakiri province. Visit the community of the ethnic minority. Enjoy the lunch in the community. Afternoon, cycle back to Don Daeng. Dinner and overnight in Don Daeng.
Day 11: Se Pian – 4 Thousand Islands
Today is your last day in Laos part of your Bike Tour Luang Prabang to Angkor Wat. Breakfast in Se Pian. We then start cycle to visit 4 Thousand Islands known as Si Phan Don in Laos. The 4 Thousand Islands situated on the Mekong River. Enjoy lunch at the 4 Thousand Island. After lunch, we cycle to Don Khong.
Day 12: Don Khong – Stung Treng
Today we cycle along the 4 Thousand Islands, cross the ferry and visit the wonderful water fall at the border with Cambodia. Immigration process. Say Goodbye to our Laos team then you will welcome by our Cambodian team then start ycle the last 57km to Stung Treng.
Day 13: Stung Treng – Irrawady Dolphin – Kratie
Breakfast in Stung Treng. Cycle along the Mekong River on dirt road for 30km. We transfer on the National Road as we cannot avoid this part. Cycle the last 45km on the back road along the Mekong River. The road is sealed but small with less traffic than the National road. It is also interesting to see the villages and scenery along the Mekong. We stop halfway to take the boat trip at Prek Kampi to spot for endangered fresh water Irraway Dolphin. If you miss the chance to see the Dolphin at 4 Thousand Islands, you will be able to see at Prek Kampi for sure. After the boat trip, cycle the last 23km to Kratie. Dinner and overnight in Kratie.
Day 14: Kratie – Mondulkiri (Northern Hill Tribes Territory)
After breakfast, we transfer about 2 hours via Snoul to Keo Sima. Along the road, we can see some of the rubber plantation initiated by the French. Then we start cycling with some uphills. The scenery after lunch is the best in Cambodia for cycling. We can view the pine forest and endless hill with green grass. We arrive in Mondulkiri and check in the hotel. Late afternoon, we cycle around the town and go up hills about 300 meter altitude high to view the sunset on top of the hill at the Sea-Forest to see how amazing the nature is.
Day 15: Sen Monorom – Bou Sra Water Fall
Breakfast in Sen Monorom. Fill in the water, start cycling out off Sen Monorom. Soon, we get to the dirt road passing the coffee plantation. We stop to have a quick visit at the plantation. Then continue on some of the sealed and dirt road through the jungle. Stop and relax to enjoy the truly nature. Then go to Bou Sra waterfall. Enjoy the lunch nearby the water fall. Enjoy swimming at the water fall and take some photos with Phnong minority clothes. Afternoon, return back to Sen Monorom for dinner and overnight.
Day 16: Sen Monorom – Elephant Valley
Breakfast in Sen Monorom. Then we cycle 10km to Elephant Valley. This is a rescue center to protect the elephants from trafficking. You have a chance of full day volunteer to work in this Elephant Valley to take care of the elephants. The staff at the project will guide you how to do the job. Lunch at the valley. Another option, if you do not want to volunteer at the Elephant valley, we cycle to visit Damrey Choun villages near by Sen Monorom and trek 5km to visit the forest and water fall. Dinner and overnight in Sen Monorom.
Day 17: Mondulkiri – Chlong-Kampong Cham
Today we continue our Bike Tour Luang Prabang to Angkor Wat by cycle along Mekong River. This back road is nice for cycling to see close to real life experience of the local people who earn their living along the Mekong River. Most of them earn their living by farming and fishing. We cycle pass a few Muslim community. Then we cross the Mekong River by ferry at Stung Trong. Continue to cycle another 33km on some dirt road and sealed road to Kampong Cham. Dinner and overnight in Kampong Cham.
Day 18: Kampong Cham – Kampong Thom
Kampong Cham is one of the biggest province produce fruits and rubber. The land and Mekong River provides rich of resource for farming. We cycle 50km before lunch. After lunch we cycle pass some of the rubber plantation which was initiated by French in 19th century. First they brought the rubber plant from South America but could not survive in Cambodia weather and land. Later on they brought the rubber plant from Malaysia and could survive. After lunch, we cycle the last 28km to Kampong Thmor and transfer for 45 minutes on National Road No.6 to avoid busy traffic to Kampong Thom. Dinner and overnight in Kampong Thom.
Day 19: Kampong Thom – Sambor Prei Kuk – Siem Reap
We cycle to visit Sambor Prei Kuk pre-Angkorian temple complex. Most of the temples in this complex built by brick between (615-650). Sambor Prei Kuk was served as the capital before Angkor period during the Chenla Kingdom. After visiting, we cycle to Prek Pros Bridge for lunch at local restaurant. After lunch, we transfer 2 hours to Siem Reap. Check in at the hotel. Dinner and overnight in Siem Reap.
Day 20: Cycle to Angkor Wat
Embark on an unforgettable Angkor Adventure Tour, starting with a scenic 35km bike ride to the ancient temple complex of Angkor Wat. Your expert local guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel, fitting you with a bike and providing a safety briefing before setting off through the Angkor pass checkpoint. As you cycle along the shady road, you’ll stop at several stunning temples, including Kravan, Banteay Kdei, and the famous Ta Phrom, adorned with enormous fig trees and creepers.
Explore the impressive ancient city of Angkor Thom, entering through its stone gate carved with elephants and giant faces. Continue to the iconic Bayon Temple, known for its enigmatic faces representing the provinces of the Great Khmer Empire. Don’t miss the intricate bas-reliefs of the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King.

Day 21: Cycle to Tonle Sap Lake – Kampong Pluk
On the second day of cycling tour Cambodia, you’ll continue to explore the area around Siem Reap by cycling through the beautiful countryside to reach Kampong Phluk fishing village. This is a great opportunity to discover the local way of life in Siem Reap and meet some of the friendly locals who live in the area. Along the way, you’ll pass by the ancient Rolous group temples, which date back to the 9th century and were part of the Khmer city of Hariharalaya.
Once you reach Kampong Phluk, you’ll get to experience the unique livelihoods of the Cambodian people who live in the floating villages on the Tonle Sap lake. The boat trip on the lake will give you an up-close look at how families have adapted their lives to living on the water, and you’ll get to see the fishing techniques and other ways of life that have sustained these communities for generations.
After the boat trip, you’ll return to Siem Reap by private vehicle, ending another day of peaceful and insightful cycling away from the tourist crowds.
Day 22: Siem Reap Departure

Guides
Our Bike Tour Luang Prabang to Angkor Wat will be led by our local cycling tour guide. For a group of less than 5, there will be one English-speaking cycling guide and a driver. For a group of 6 or more, there will be a Cycling Tour Leader, an English-speaking cycling guide, drivers, and assistants. All of our guides are well-informed about the history, culture, and religions of the area where you will be biking and are skilled at sharing that knowledge with you.
Bikes & Repairs
The bikes you will be riding are well-known makes of hybrid bikes or mountain bikes. The ones you receive depend on the type of tour.
During the tour, your guide will carry a reliable toolkit and help you in fixing any bike problems, so you only need to bring a daypack for your camera and other necessities. However, please note that we cannot guarantee being equipped for all types of repairs. If you are bringing your own bike, it is crucial to ensure that it is in good working condition before the tour. In case of any doubts, we recommend having it fully serviced by a bike shop before you embark on your journey.
Support Vehicle
Throughout the tour, you will have the security of a backup vehicle that will be with us at all times. The vehicle will transport your luggage, which we’ll move by support vehicle from each overnight stop to the next, and it can carry you if needed. The backup van will accompany us throughout the day, stopping roughly every 15 kilometers.
Safety
For your safety, wearing a helmet is mandatory during all of our biking adventures, and we strongly recommend it. If you refuse to wear a helmet, you will not be permitted to cycle. While your tour guide is well-trained in first aid and emergency rescue, it is important to note that you are largely responsible for your own safety while riding.
Terrain
The terrain of our Bike Tour Luang Prabang to Angkor Wat is diverse, featuring mainly flat paths that follow a combination of tarmac and dirt roads through the countryside and rural villages. You will cycle on back roads that offer stunning, unobstructed views of the landscape, and we’ll make frequent stops every 15 kilometers to rest, snack, take pictures, and enjoy drinks.
Our guides are experienced in accommodating riders of all skill levels. In the event that you are unable to complete the distance, you can always hop into the support vehicle.

As our tours are physically demanding, it’s essential that you are in good physical health and able to fully participate in the group tour. Drinking
At our company, we take hydration very seriously and strive to keep you completely hydrated throughout your tour. As you ride, we provide cold water, locally sourced fruit for energy, and soft drinks—all of which are included in the tour price.
Please note that soft drinks and other beverages during meals are not included in the tour price. While beer is readily available throughout the tour, it is not included in the price.
Extra Expenses
Our package tour of Bike Tour Luang Prabang to Angkor Wat includes most things, but we recommend budgeting for food and drinks if you choose to venture out at night or partake in additional activities. The cost of these activities will vary depending on what you choose to do.
We suggest bringing a small amount of cash, around US$30, for incidentals such as souvenirs or small purchases throughout the tour. Please note that this is only a recommendation, and you are free to bring more or less cash as you see fit.
Money
Laos: The official national currency in Laos is the kip, however, Thai baht and US dollars are also used, especially in larger cities and towns. In smaller towns and villages, kip is usually preferred. There are now a few ATMs in Laos, but they are not widespread and are operational only sporadically. The best overall exchange rates are those offered at the BCEL (Banque pour le Commerce Extérieur Lao). Licensed moneychangers rates are similar to banks Spend all your kip before you leave as no one will exchange it for you once you leave the country!
Cambodia: Thai baht and US dollars are widely used in Cambodia, especially in larger cities and towns. In smaller towns and villages, Cambodian riels are usually preferred. There are ATMs in most areas, however, machines dispense US dollars. The guides will be able to show you where the ATMs are. Spend riel before departing as no one will exchange them for you once you leave.
Solo Traveller
We welcome a diverse range of cyclists on our tours, including couples, friends, and solo traveller. Our tour prices are based on twin shared accommodation, which means that if you sign up as a solo traveller, you will be paired with another person of the same gender in your group. However, if you prefer to have your own room, this is an option for most of our tours, but it will come with an additional charge.
Passport & Visa
Laos: All nationalities require a visa for Laos. You have two options to get a single-entry tourist visa (max 30 days): 1) E-Visa or 2) Visa on Arrival. Both are very straightforward processes, though we suggest procuring an E-Visa in advance as it will save you time on arrival in Laos. Apply via this website. If you prefer to do a Visa On Arrival, make sure you have the required documents prepared (including 2 passport-sized photographs and the exact amount for the visa fee in USD). Please Note: While E-Visa and Visa on Arrival are available for all international airports and major land borders, some border posts do not yet accept them. Therefore, if your tour crosses into Laos from Vietnam through a more remote border post, obtaining your visa through a Laotian Embassy or Consulate in advance may be required. If that is the case, we will let you know at the time of booking.
Cambodia: Visitors to Cambodia require a passport to enter the country and all travellers must hold a passport with the validation for 6 months after their planned exit from Cambodia.
Most nationalities can get a visa on arrival at Phnom Penh & Siem Reap international airports without prior registration. Visa issued on arrival for most nationalities, US $30/pax, please bring 1 passport photo. You can also get it in advance at; www.evisa.gov.kh
Insurance
Yes, it is mandatory that all participants are well-insured for the full duration of the tour. This includes coverage for personal injury, medical expenses, death, repatriation, helicopter or aircraft rescue, loss of luggage or equipment, cancellation, or curtailments. It is important to ensure that your insurance policy does not have any exclusion clauses that limit protection for the type of activities included in your tour.
In the event of any claims related to matters for which you are insured, you should contact your insurers directly. We strongly recommend that you take out insurance at the time of booking your trip to ensure that you are covered in the event of cancellation.
Climate
Laos: Laos has a tropical climate with fairly high humidity. There are three seasons: from March to June it is hot and dry, with temperatures between 27C and 40C (80-104F), with night temperatures in the 20C/75F). The rainy season is from June to October. The cooler season, is from November to February, with average temperatures between 20C and 30C (70- 86F). It can get a little cold at night at higher elevations year round so bring a light fleece for the evenings.
Cambodia: November in Cambodia is the start of the dry season; although the odd, short shower early in the month is not unusual. Comfortable temperatures (avg: 25 °C), low humidity and plenty of sunshine make this a popular time to travel in Cambodia. December is characterised by dry, sunny weather, low humidity and relatively cool temperatures (avg: 26 °C). In January Cambodia is well into its dry season. By August it is experiencing the rainy season, but this does not affect our cycling too much, as rain generally falls late afternoon or at night. The advantage of visiting Cambodia during the wet season is the vibrant spectacle of lush green rice fields and countryside.
Deposit
Once the tour is confirmed, we do require 30% deposited to secure the booking with us, the other 70% will be required one month before departure date. For the tours less than a month to the departure date, we will require full amount of the total tour cost.
Balance
The remaining balance must be paid 30 days before the departure date with fees for any bicycle rental(s), single supplement(s) and extra hotel nights.
